Maintenance Mechanic / Handyman
Location: Elizabeth, NJ
Pay Rate: $24.00 – $28.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift (occasional weekends or evenings as needed)
About the Role We’re seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at a growing food production facility in Elizabeth, NJ. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and capable of performing both mechanical repairs and general handyman tasks throughout the plant.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring all equipment, machinery, and facility systems run efficiently and safely to support daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production machinery, compressors, motors, conveyors, and packaging equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues quickly to minimize downtime.
Complete light plumbing, electrical, painting, and general handyman work as needed around the facility.
Maintain maintenance logs, safety records, and inventory of parts and tools.
Assist in equipment installations, upgrades, and relocations.
Ensure compliance with company safety standards and food manufacturing guidelines.
Collaborate with the production team to identify potential issues and recommend proactive solutions.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience as a maintenance mechanic, industrial technician, or facilities mechanic.
Hands‑on experience repairing motors, compressors, and mechanical systems.
Strong knowledge of hand and power tools, mechanical troubleshooting, and basic electrical repairs.
Ability to perform general handyman tasks (painting, drywall, basic carpentry, light plumbing).
Food manufacturing or warehouse maintenance experience is a plus.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification a plus.
