Location: Huntsville, AL (AMF North location) Schedule: Weekend 2nd (3/12s – work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) Job Summary
L3Harris is seeking a Composite Manufacturing Technician to work at our state‑of‑the‑art Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Huntsville, AL. The role involves fabrication and assembly of composite rocket motor hardware, including lay‑ups, winding, curing, and final assembly. Essential Functions
Produce parts, components, and final assemblies using composite fabrication, compression molding, metal fabrication, modification, and quality testing. Prepare components for lay‑up, filament winding, cure, and post‑cure using cured and uncured rubber materials and adhesives. Operate machinery and shop equipment including filament winders, ovens, autoclaves, lathes, CNC centers, presses, furnaces, mixers, grinders, swages, and automated welding equipment. Fabricate and assemble sub‑assemblies using assembly tools. Perform vacuum bagging and related processes for composite part curing. Complete structural bonding operations using film adhesives, core materials, and adhesives. Build complex lay‑ups individually and in small groups. Insulate mandrels and composite cases. Wound filament winding composite structures. Cast, cure, and machine sand mandrels. Facilitate and conduct on‑the‑job training of technicians as required. Troubleshoot processes, modify or raise escalation for out‑of‑control processes and production escapes. Coordinate with maintenance, supervision, and engineers for equipment setup and calibration. Participate in preventive maintenance activities and clean machines, equipment, and work area according to SOPs. Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience, or 2 years post‑secondary/Associate’s Degree with 0‑2 years prior related experience. EEO & Legal
