Position Summary The Drill Rig / Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for performing inspection, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of drilling and heavy equipment. This includes drill rigs, support vehicles, and other hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems used in water well, geotechnical, construction, piling, foundation, mining, and general heavy equipment operations.

This position will support both shop and field operations and may require travel to project sites in the USA.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair drill rigs and related heavy machinery.

Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled service to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.

Rebuild and replace components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, etc..

Conduct welding and fabrication repairs on structural components and support frames.

Calibrate, test, and adjust equipment to manufacturer specifications.

Respond to field service calls for breakdowns or emergency repairs.

Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and parts usage reports.

Collaborate with operators, field supervisors, and project managers to identify and resolve equipment issues.

Follow all safety and environmental regulations, company procedures, and manufacturer guidelines.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training preferred.

3-5 years of experience as a mechanic working on heavy equipment or drilling machinery.

Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

Skilled with diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals.

Welding and fabrication experience (MIG/TIG/Stick) preferred but not required.

Valid driver’s license required; CDL (Class B or A) a plus.

Physical ability to lift heavy parts, climb, bend, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Working Conditions

Combination of shop and field work.

Exposure to weather, noise, dust, and job site conditions.

PPE required (safety glasses, gloves, hard hat, steel-toe boots, hearing protection), Supplied by employer.

Occasional overtime, weekend, and on-call work may be required.

Travel to project locations within the USA.
