Job Summary We are looking for an experienced and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our asphalt business. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel-powered trucks, machinery, and equipment critical to our operations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to document all repairs and maintenance using computer-based systems.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel trucks, pavers, rollers, and other asphalt-related equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, and tire checks.

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.

Repair or replace defective components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and steering systems.

Document all repairs, inspections, and maintenance tasks in a computer-based system to maintain accurate service records.

Perform preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and ensure reliable operation during projects.

Respond promptly to on-site repair needs to keep job sites operational.

Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked workshop, ensuring all tools and supplies are readily available.

Collaborate with the operations team to prioritize repairs and schedule maintenance effectively.

Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations during all maintenance and repair activities.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in diesel mechanics are .

Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, particularly in the construction or asphalt industry.

Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Familiarity with maintaining asphalt-specific equipment such as pavers, rollers, and loaders is a plus.

Ability to use diagnostic software and enter maintenance records into computer-based systems.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy components.

Valid driver’s license; a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus.

Excellent organizational skills and a strong commitment to safety.

Work Schedule

Full-time position with typical hours from 5:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility for occasional overtime and weekend work is required based on project schedules.

Compensation
