Position Overview
The Assistant Manager acts as the second-in-command, performing all Center Manager functions in their absence and overseeing daily operations using customer service, employee relations, and business management skills.
Responsibilities
Customer Relations
Welcome customers professionally, explaining services and pricing during various stages of their visit.
Present and inspect air filters, cabin filters, and radiator caps as applicable.
Maintain communication with waiting customers, keep them informed, and ensure a clean, safe environment.
Review service tickets thoroughly with customers, explain services, and remind them to submit feedback.
Thank customers and encourage their return, and resolve complaints and claims.
Employee Supervision and Management
Hire, evaluate, discipline, and discharge employees as needed.
Provide training and conduct routine sessions on products, services, and policies.
Schedule staff efficiently, ensure accurate timekeeping, and handle payroll.
Maintain employee records.
Center Operations
Oversee activities in service bays, monitor sales and inventory reports, and manage cash and credit transactions.
Maintain POS systems, perform bank deposits, and close out daily operations.
Manage inventory, ensure cleanliness, and uphold safety standards.
Other Duties
Send thank you notes, solicit fleet accounts, and plan local marketing.
Participate in community activities and maintain compliance with postings and records.
Qualifications
Skills: Business management, employee relations, customer service, intermediate computing skills.
Basic literacy and communication skills.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate mechanical tools.
Experience managing a retail automotive center or similar is required.
Working Conditions
Exposure to outside weather, noise, and vehicle fumes.
Physical activities include standing, walking, climbing, and lifting.
