BAS Controls Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented BAS Controls Technician to install Building Automation Systems (BAS) and related control components. The role requires independent work with project blueprints and adherence to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
System Installation
Install control devices, panels, conduit, wiring, and communication infrastructure per blueprints and NEC.
Mount and secure control panels, field devices (sensors, actuators, thermostats).
Wiring and Cabling
Run conduit and pull power, control, and communication cables (e.g., CAT5/6).
Install bridal rings, cable trays, and manage cable organization.
Controller Termination
Terminate basic controllers (VAV, UV, FC units) following manufacturer specs.
Perform initial power‑up checks and verification.
Quality Assurance and Safety
Maintain quality standards and comply with local codes.
Adhere to safety protocols and wear PPE.
Report hazards or blueprint discrepancies.
Documentation and Communication
Record work performed and materials used.
Communicate progress with project managers and team members.
Attend site meetings as required.
Tool and Equipment Management
Maintain tools and equipment and organize work area and company vehicles.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED.
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
Experience with conduit installation, wire pulling, and bridal rings.
Terminate basic control devices (VAV, UV, FC).
Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
Basic electrical principles and safety knowledge.
Independent worker who can collaborate as part of a team.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb, bend, kneel, and work in various weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Technical certification or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, or controls.
1+ years of commercial HVAC controls or low‑voltage installation experience.
OSHA 10 or 30‑hour construction certification.
Familiarity with shielded, unshielded, plenum‑rated wiring.
Knowledge of local and national electrical codes (NEC).
Experience with lift operation (scissor lift, boom lift) and appropriate certification.
COMPENSATION
$25.00 – $40.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
