Job Summary The Sterile Processing Technician II is a certified technician whose responsibilities cover decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established standards/guidelines. The SP Tech II demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness when working in an indirect patient care department and addressing the requests of customers or providers.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
AND Central Service Technology Course/Or Equivalent Work Experience (at least one year experience in central sterile processing)
Hold one of the following certifications or obtain within one year of hire: CRCST, CSPDT, CBSPD or CRM
One (1) Year Of Central Sterile Processing Experience Required
Special Requirements
Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact), Bilingual skills preferred, Writing/Reports (Legible handwriting and coherent writing)
Other Skills: Medical Terms (Surgical/Medical Terminology Knowledge, Critical Thinking, Multi-task in a fast paced environment, Ability to lead projects, Monitor and interpret results of gauges, Research surgical instruments and supply companies), PC skills appropriate to meet job requirements
Work Schedule: Weekends, Holidays, Flexible, On Call
Equipment Operated Sterilization equipment, decontamination equipment, computer/printer, elevator system, scope disinfector, heat sealer, incubators, bar code scanners, computer software, temperature monitors, equipment gauges, visual screen monitors, digital camera, and inter-department paging system.
