Job Overview
Edgewater Technical Associates, LLC is seeking a QC Manufacturing Engineer to support quality control and process validation for an industrial manufacturing project within the nuclear sector. This role ensures that manufacturing processes and outputs meet rigorous nuclear quality standards, including NQA-1, DOE, and NRC requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in regulated manufacturing environments and a strong background in quality engineering, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement quality control plans and inspection criteria for complex components and assemblies
Support process qualification, first article inspections (FAI), and production readiness reviews
Collaborate with manufacturing and design engineering teams to resolve quality issues and improve process capability
Conduct root cause analysis and lead corrective/preventive action (CAPA) initiatives
Ensure compliance with NQA-1, ASME, and other nuclear regulatory standards
Review and approve manufacturing documentation, including travelers, work instructions, and inspection reports
Support internal and external audits, including DOE/NRC inspections and customer reviews
Monitor and analyze quality metrics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement
Train production personnel on quality standards, inspection techniques, and documentation practices
Maintain traceability and documentation for all quality-related activities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field
5+ years of experience in quality or manufacturing engineering, preferably in the nuclear, aerospace, or defense industries
Strong understanding of NQA-1, ASME Section III, and nuclear quality assurance protocols
Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection methods
Experience with root cause analysis tools and CAPA systems
Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting DOE or NRC-regulated projects
Familiarity with complex systems or high-speed rotating equipment
ASQ certification (CQE, CQA) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
Knowledge of cleanroom protocols and contamination control
Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and quality data analysis tools
Other Job Requirements
United States Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security clearance. Active clearance is a plus.
