As a Machinist, you will set up, program, and operate CNC and/or various other types of machines (brands include DMG Mori, Toshiba, Doosan, Mazak, Puma, Fortune, Nakamura-Tome, among others); maintain quality and safety standards; and perform routine maintenance on equipment and supplies as needed. Primary Responsibilities
Read blueprints, engineering plans, material documents, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, surface locations, and machining parameters; interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Understand programming of mills and lathes through conversational software and G&M code; set tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculate requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; validate part programs. Setup of mills and lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicate vises and tram heads. Setup, loading, and adjustment of bar feeder systems. Verify machine settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces. Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting operations; perform turning, facing, thread chasing; take measurements; troubleshoot, reprogram controls, replace worn tools; adhere to quality assurance procedures. Perform routine preventive maintenance; troubleshoot malfunctions; order repairs as needed. Maintain shift-to-shift continuity through proper pass-off documentation and communication of issues to the team lead or supervisor. Maintain operational documentation, including production and quality logs. Keep work area clean and organized; uphold safety guidelines and report safety issues per procedures. Perform other routine duties as directed. Required Skills
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and product drawings. Ability to setup, program, and operate CNC machines or manual machines. Strong commitment to safety in industrial/manufacturing environments. Advanced math skills; ability to understand measurement concepts and applications. Familiarity with thread gauges, ring gauges, ID/OD micrometers, and other measuring devices. Ability to read and use micrometer calipers and other measuring devices. Required Education/Experience
High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience. Minimum 3 years programming, setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC machines in an industrial/manufacturing environment. Preferred
Advanced CNC programming certification Physical Requirements
Ability to wear PPE (safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, ear protection) in an industrial environment. Manual dexterity to handle and manipulate objects with fingers. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and reach; stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed. Ability to reach overhead or at or below shoulder level; climb ladders or stairs in confined spaces as required. Ability to lift/c push/pull/move objects 25–50 pounds; maintain stationary or standing positions for extended periods. Ability to perform close visual inspections and meet specific vision requirements. Work in an open warehouse environment subject to seasonal weather. Other Compensation & Benefits
