What You’ll Do As a Pipe Layer, you’ll be an essential part of Sunrock’s utility team. You’ll install and maintain
water, sewer, and storm drain systems , while supporting your crew with equipment operation and hands-on labor.
Responsibilities Include
Lay and align water, sewer, and storm drainage pipe.
Perform trenching, shoveling, and grading tasks as part of the crew.
Locate underground utilities before work begins.
Assist with operating heavy equipment when needed.
Follow safety standards and report any unsafe conditions.
Participate in pre-shift inspections and complete required reports.
Support housekeeping and equipment maintenance.
What We’re Looking For
Reliable and dependable, showing up ready to work and finish the job right
Safety-focused, always following procedures and watching out for the crew
At least 2 years of prior pipe-laying experience
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
Preferred
High School Diploma or GED
Valid NC Driver’s License
Experience assisting grading crews and operating equipment

Job Locations Employees are expected to have their own transportation to the jobsite and be there by starting time. Start time may be adjusted due to seasons, job type, or schedule. Typically, this is 7 AM. Sunrock hires and places new hires based on open positions needed on our crews. Sunrock cannot guarantee that employees will work close to where they live. Nor can we make changes to our crews to accommodate such requests.
Guaranteed Time You must be employed for 90 days to be eligible for assured time. Between March 15 and December 15, employees are assured 24 hours. Between December 15 and March 15, employees are assured 40 hours. Employees must be willing and prepared to work to qualify for assured time.
