We are searching for a dynamic and motivated Machinist III on nights to join our team at our Bloomfield, Connecticut location. Night shift hours are 3:15pm to 12:45am Monday through Friday, as business needs currently dictate one hour of mandatory daily overtime. With limited technical supervision, checks out programming, sets up, operates and adjusts computer numerically controlled machine tools to perform a series of progressive machining operations on repetitive work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications Works from programs, operation sheets, and machine setup instructions Self-sufficient with material clamping methods, machine adjustments/offsets and console settings Operations include drilling, honing, boring, milling and turning, screw machine operation, etc., on routine and repetitive operations Perform other tasks as required to drive results. Education
High School diploma/GED Machining Training Certificate preferred Experience
Minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience as a CNC machinist preferrable in an aerospace manfuacturing environment. Skills / Knowledge
Understand common Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) symbols and restraints such as runout, concentricity, and Parallelism Proficient in shop math Solid communication skills (verbal, written) and ability work independently as well as within a team Requires knowledge of machining techniques such as cutting jaws, touching tools off and tramming fixtures Familiarity with computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures such as dry run, geometry and wear offsets, MDI functions and basic G codes Ability to troubleshoot and solve machining problems as they arise. Physical Requirements
Continual standing and walking Frequent mental and visual attention Frequent bending, twisting Frequent grasping items and tools Occasional (15-40%) lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs. Exposure to aerospace machining noise, fumes, metal chips, coolant Kaman is an equal opportunity employer.
