Location: The Heart Hospital - 1100 Allied Dr, Plano, 75093.
Position: Nuclear Med Tech
Shift: Full-time, Days
Experience: 2yr or more of Nuclear Medicine experience
Responsibilities
Quality Assurance: Performs high quality nuclear medicine, PET, and theranostic procedures (planar, SPECT, and SPECT/CT), according to exam protocol, in a timely manner. Maintains equipment by performing quality control (Q.C.) as required by imaging manufacturers, RAM, or ACR. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.
Caring Practices: Communicates with patients to identify service requirements, ensures correct exam is performed, and establishes rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their families regarding the test to be performed and assesses patient ability to tolerate exam in accordance with HIPAA.
Patient Safety: Explains procedures to put patients at ease. Protects patients and staff by adhering to safety requirements, infection-control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Prepares patient and area for procedure by positioning, adjusting immobilization devices, and moving equipment as needed.
Radiation Safety: Safeguards patients, team members, and themselves by adhering to all radiation safety requirements. Verifies correct radioactive drug selection, screens for pregnancy status, and safely administers radiopharmaceuticals per protocol. Educates patients on radiation safety pre and post exam or treatment. Follows disposal guidelines.
Collaboration: Reports issues to leadership or appropriate department. Assists with supplies inventory, radiopharmaceuticals ordering and QC. Works with colleagues, nursing partners, medical staff, and Radiologists. Ensures accurate transfer of patient images to BSWH PACS for clinical review and dictation.
Key Competencies / Skills
Ability to observe changes in patient condition and communicate effectively with nursing partners, physicians, and emergency teams; able to administer first aid and use emergency equipment.
Maintain current knowledge and continued education for care across age groups: newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult, and geriatric.
Provide services timely, accurate, and cost-efficient in compliance with system and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain a calm, professional demeanor under stress.
Focus on patient satisfaction by minimizing wait times and delivering courteous service; review satisfaction scores and implement action plans when required.
Ability to serve as trainer to new team members and approved students.
Adherence to policies, procedures, and workflows, including PACS, EMR, image exchange systems, modality worklist integrity, record management, and Biomedical services.
General computer skills, including Microsoft Office, information security, electronic medical documentation, and email.
Willingness to take call, if required.

Qualifications
EDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited Program
EXPERIENCE - 2yr or more of Nuclear Medicine experience
PET or CT experience highly preferred
Cardiovascular Screening experience
Proficient with IVs
Detail oriented, self motivated, problem solver, team player
Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire
Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT): Licensed by the State of Texas as an MRT
ARRT-N Nuclear Medicine Tech (ARRT-N) or CNMT certification
