PRIMARY PURPOSE The Kankakee Flooring Plant team has a job opportunity for Process Engineer located in Kankakee, IL. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Process Engineer is responsible for providing technical services for the Kankakee Plant. These services include process improvement work, daily process support, cost reduction activities, and project management. This position plays a critical role in our Lean and continuous improvement activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
Technical assistance to the operation in terms of equipment, maintenance, production processes and systems, and facility maintenance.
Leading plant Quality and ISO teams in maintaining and improving plant quality
Identifying and resolving common cause and special cause issues that impact line reliability and performance.
Investigating manufacturing problems with the line and recommending corrective actions. This includes consulting with production and maintenance personnel, analyzing the supporting data, recommending corrective actions, and following through on recommendations to evaluate their effectiveness.
Executing capital projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and performance goals are met or exceeded. This may vary from owning portions of a large project to sole ownership of a project.
Coordinating training and start up activities of new equipment and processes.
Participating in Lean efforts, such as kaizen events, where an emphasis is placed on creativity before capital investment.
Provide total commitment to personal safety and ensure others are working in a safe manner as well.
Perform tasks in accordance with proven skill levels as directed by Production Manager.
Participates in Continuous Improvement, also provides suggestions to improve processes and participates on team projects.
Work cooperatively with production staff to accomplish tasks and achieve departmental goals.
Maintain property, plant, and equipment to support and improve the safe production and performance of the operations.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Responds promptly to customer needs; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments.
Balances team and individual responsibilities; Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to work self‑directed with limited resources and able to meet challenging timelines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence upper management and gain buy in from shop floor end users.
Detail‑oriented and strong organizational skills.
Ability to always maintain appropriate confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong change management skills and experience
Strong verbal, written, analytical, and presentation skills
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
Must be able to successfully complete and pass a background check, employment verification and drug screening
Positive and Verifiable Work History
Must follow safety guidelines and wear applicable safety equipment, e.g., safety glasses, side shields, approved safety shoes, and other PPE as needed
