Job Summary Install or repair electrical systems, apparatus and electrical components of industrial machinery, equipment or facilities. Investigate electrical and associated mechanical problems or breakdowns and make diagnosis based upon findings and define corrective action necessary. Troubleshoot or rework electrical or pneumatic control systems.

Responsibilities

Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.

Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment.

Install wiring and conduit as well as lighting fixtures, switches, outlets and other electrical devices that require hard wiring to the facility power supply.

Install telephone wiring and communications cables such as data processing lines inside walls, above ceiling or below floor.

Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, pneumatic controls and lighting fixtures and replace damaged or broken wires, cables or other parts necessary to correct the malfunction.

Perform troubleshooting or rework of electrical or pneumatic control systems.

Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss malfunction with other maintenance workers as necessary to achieve consensus on the required course of action to repair the problem.

Replace faulty electrical components of machines or equipment such as relays, switches and motors.

Replace electric motor bearings.

Monitor and test electrical components as needed to maintain proper working order and avoid production delays.

Perform other maintenance trade work such as plumbing, carpentry or other items when electrical workload is low.

Work as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality and more of the department. Use interpersonal skills as well as good written and verbal communications. Assist other department members as required.

Safety and Physical Requirements Good housekeeping, adherence to National Electric Code and compliance with Company Safety Rules required. Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to reach, bend, stretch, kneel, stoop, crawl and climb and work in confined spaces such as attics, crawl spaces, etc. Job assignments may require standing, sitting, working on a ladder or in a confined space for periods exceeding 15 minutes at a time.

Pay Scale Pay scale: $29.52 to $35.88 (LG 9) 2nd shift 1:00pm to 9:30pm Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to read and write English and apply mathematical operations using fractions, decimals, algebra and geometry as required by essential job duties. Generally equivalent to journeyman trade school graduate or equivalent.

Requires 2 years at journeyman level or equivalent skills and working knowledge in facility and industrial machine electric installations and repairs necessary to fulfill job requirements. Must have a journeyman's working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.

Must read instruments such as various gauges, meters, and wiring diagrams, machine schematics, blueprints and other documentation similar or comparable to those used by the Company.
