Job Overview Airbus Americas, Inc is seeking an Industrial Assembly Engineer to join our team in Kinston, North Carolina, United States. This role is contingent upon obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals and the successful closing of a transaction which will result in establishing a new Airbus Affiliate in Kinston, NC. The Industrial Assembly Engineer will be an employee of the Kinston Affiliate, working to manage drilling, fastening, jigs & tools, and measurement activities to secure the industrialization of technologies and the implementation of robust processes. You will represent the Assembly Technology domain in front of the operational domains (quality, operations, logistics, engineering and procurement) in a manufacturing plant.

Responsibilities

Specify industrial jigs, tools and machinery for industrial evolution (35%).

Define and prepare specifications for jigs & toolings related to assembly of parts and components.

Prepare technical documentation for calls for tender and support supplier down‑selection.

Analyze suppliers’ technical capability and ensure compliance with Airbus standards and regulations.

Support production on critical disturbances related to assembly technologies and processes (30%).

Provide technical guidance and problem solving on specific technical issues on the shop floor.

Involve the wider network (engineering, procurement, manufacturing engineering) to effectively solve technical issues.

Run PPS (Practical Problem Solving) on specific shop‑floor issues according to Airbus standards.

Define and implement short‑term and long‑term fixes for issues related to assembly technologies or processes (e.g., drilling or fastening).

Ensure the involvement of relevant Airbus specialists & experts worldwide to eliminate critical disturbances.

Develop and implement new assembly processes and technologies (30%).

Create local technology strategy in line with global standards for drilling, fastening, jigs & tools.

Develop local solutions based on customer needs and Airbus standards.

Implement new assembly processes and technologies on the shop floor.

Align local assembly strategy with the central technology strategy.

Take part in weekly team meetings with the trans‑national Assembly Technology Team.

Other duties as assigned (5%), including participation in regular team meetings, SQCDP meetings, workshops, and other tasks assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.

Minimum 8 years of experience in a related industrial assembly role.

Knowledge of specifying tools & machinery.

Experience in manufacturing or assembly of technical parts, generic assembly processes, and machine or jigs & tools qualification.

Experience in tolerancing and designing technical products (preferred).

Knowledge of manufacturing, engineering and/or assembly processes; experience in quality processes (e.g., PPS) (preferred).

Authorized to work in the United States.

Fluent English (spoken & written).

Ability to communicate with stakeholders at different levels on technical and business matters.

Onsite work preferred; remote option up to 40% possible.
