Position Overview The Marine and Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic maintains, repairs, and upkeeps heavy machinery used in marine and heavy construction environments. The mechanic works in warehouses and yards, troubleshooting issues, conducting regular service, and preparing equipment for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.

Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues in heavy construction and marine equipment, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components. Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, repairs, and parts inventory.

Perform routine checks on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Report any issues for prompt maintenance or replacement.

Handle and transport heavy metal materials, tools, and equipment safely.

Adhere to all safety regulations, protocols, and guidelines to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment.

Collaborate with other marine construction professionals to coordinate maintenance and contribute to project success.

Train junior mechanics and support staff in equipment maintenance procedures and safety protocols, staying current with technologies and techniques.

Minimum Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment maintenance preferred.

Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electronics, and diagnostic systems.

Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in repairing and maintaining heavy construction and marine equipment.

Good physical condition and ability to work in demanding, adverse weather conditions.

Strong awareness of safety procedures, including PPE and emergency response; familiarity with OSHA regulations related to construction equipment.

Adaptability to various outdoor environments and willingness to pursue further training or certification as required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, bend, and stand for long periods.

Stamina for long hours in various weather conditions.

Good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling tools and parts.

Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.

Ability to operate heavy machinery for diagnostic purposes.

Must safely lift at least 50 pounds without assistance.

Good vision and hearing.

Other Requirements

Willingness to travel to other job locations as needed.
