Overview
The Division of Administration/Office of State Buildings has a vacancy for an HVAC Control Tech Master. The Office of State Buildings is responsible for the operations and maintenance of about 41 state buildings. This position requires the individual to work independently and demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of pneumatic and electronic systems associated with chillers, commercial refrigeration equipment, Phoenix Controls, and building automation systems. A working knowledge of HVAC systems and their operation is required, with proficiency in Metasys and Siemens building automation systems.
The Division of Administration is the state government’s management arm and the hub of its financial operations. Division offices perform a wide variety of activities including capital construction oversight, grant administration for community development, budget development, technology services, and guidance to agencies on purchasing and contracting processes. The division also administers federal funds to help Louisiana residents recover from hurricanes.
Responsibilities
Independently troubleshoots and performs calibrations, adjustments, and repairs to control modules, application-specific controllers, microprocessors, relays, transducers, temperature sensors, and related components in chillers and commercial refrigeration equipment. This includes replacing and repairing electronic and pneumatic VAV controllers, temperature sensors, pressure sensors, thermostats, actuators, differential pressure switches, relays, transducers, CTs, DPs, VFDs, etc.; diagnosing complex wiring problems; working with advanced circuit schematics and vendor literature in new installations and diagnostic repairs of electronic components.
Overhauls and modifies complex, large tonnage, high-horsepower chillers and other advanced equipment. Performs complex diagnostic analyses of electronic and pneumatic controls such as VAV mixing boxes, thermostats, static pressure controls, hot and cool decks, and makes necessary repairs.
Performs complex diagnostic analyses for mechanical and electrical controls on large tonnage, high-horsepower chillers, boilers, and related equipment. Makes repairs and/or procures bids for services outside the scope of manpower. Independently performs routine maintenance on all HVAC equipment, boilers, and associated systems.
Provides relief of Central Plant Operations when needed and is considered “essential personnel”; may require emergency repairs after hours, during office closures, and in inclement weather conditions.

to service and repair both low- and high-pressure equipment, including small appliances.
Qualifications One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience: three years of experience or training in the installation or maintenance of pneumatic, electrical, or electronic control systems for heating (including boiler), ventilating, or air conditioning systems.
