Senior Construction Manager, Electrical
– Data Centers at
Ramboll
Location: Base Office – Central, NY (Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester) – Project Sites across the U.S. (60–80% travel). Reports To: Director of Construction / Project Executive.
Key Responsibilities
Lead execution of all electrical systems on data center construction projects: MV distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators, busway, branch power, grounding, lighting, etc.
Ensure installation meets design specifications, commissioning criteria and owner requirements.
Collaborate with MEP design teams, client engineers and commissioning agents to validate design and constructability.
Develop and manage detailed execution plans and look‑ahead schedules.
Coordinate daily and weekly activities of electrical subcontractors and vendors.
Oversee procurement tracking, delivery coordination, equipment installation and testing procedures.
Conduct field inspections to ensure quality standards and electrical codes (NEC, NFPA 70E) are met.
Review submittals, RFIs and shop drawings to resolve conflicts early.
Support commissioning and integrated systems testing (IST) from a construction readiness standpoint.
Act as primary site contact for all electrical‑related matters, providing progress updates to internal leadership and external stakeholders.
Coordinate power‑up activities, energization sequencing and utility interface.
Enforce electrical safety protocols (LOTO, arc flash, energized work procedures).
Lead jobsite hazard assessments, toolbox talks and electrical safety audits.
Mentor junior staff, field engineers and electrical coordinators.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related technical field.
10+ years of construction experience, 5+ years focused on mission‑critical electrical systems for data centers or high‑reliability facilities.
In‑depth understanding of Tier III/IV data center electrical design, installation, testing and commissioning.
Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier standards, redundancy concepts (N, N+1, 2N).
Strong skills reading panel schedules, riser diagrams and coordination drawings.
OSHA 30, NFPA 70E or equivalent electrical safety certifications (preferred).
Experience with PMS, SCADA, BMS integration and grounding/testing procedures.
Proficiency in Bluebeam, Procore, Autodesk BIM 360, or similar platforms.
PE license or Master Electrician license (preferred).
Personal Attributes

Proven track record coordinating across trades, engineering teams and client representatives.
