Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment.
Complete reactive maintenance as required.
Pick up equipment parts from vendors and install, repair or replace functional parts and components.
Routinely inspect plant equipment and facilities, wash down and clean out basins, add grease and oil to pumps, replace air filters and operate radio.
Complete work orders and basic forms, maintain housekeeping standards and understand basic electrical safety.
Operate forklift, weed‑eater and tractor/bush hog; repair fences and wooden structures; perform basic water analysis as needed.
May oversee flushing and sampling of source water and potable water for compliance monitoring and perform customer relations and notification site visits.
May perform any task required of a Maintenance Specialist I employee.
Maintains job safety standards (personal protection equipment, etc.) and complies with City of Shreveport vehicle safety rules.
Trains new team members on safe work practices, attends required safety, job related and certification training classes, and is subject to be on call 24/7.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Valid State Vehicle Operator’s License applicable to the assigned position.
Three years experience as a Maintenance Specialist I or related field.
Hold or be able to obtain Class 2 Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection Certificates issued by the State of Louisiana, Dept. of Health and Hospitals within 3 years.
Physical Requirements Position may require moderate to extensive stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions, along with some combination of climbing and balancing; may be subject to sitting for prolonged periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Position requires abilities to consistently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment Work is performed outdoors with exposure to noise, dirt, grease, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, fumes, animals, insects, chemicals, treated/untreated sewer, treated/untreated water, inclement weather, and machinery with moving parts requiring use of protective devices.
