Job Summary The Crusher Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of crushing equipment in a quarry environment. This role ensures that crushing processes run smoothly, materials are processed to meet quality standards, and equipment is maintained to prevent breakdowns. The technician works collaboratively with other team members to promote safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
Safety
Actively participate in company safety programs and promote a safety culture by making informed decisions.
Follow all safety policies and procedures, including LOTOTO, Motor Vehicle, and Drug & Alcohol policies.
Engage in emergency response as a team, prioritizing safety for all personnel.
Quality
Inspect raw materials prior to processing to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Monitor production processes and adjust equipment settings as necessary to maintain product quality.
Collaborate with the Quality Control Team to conduct regular inspections of output materials.
Functional and Technical Skills
Equipment Operation: Safely operate and monitor various types of crushing equipment (jaw, cone, impact), ensuring adherence to SOPs.
Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks on crushing equipment, including lubrication, adjustments, and cleaning.
Wear Parts Replacement: Identify and replace wear parts (liners, screens, hammers) as necessary.
Operational Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve operational issues with crushing equipment, employing critical thinking skills.
Adjustments and Calibration: Make necessary adjustments to crusher settings and calibrate instruments for optimal operation.
Material Handling: Load raw materials into the crusher using heavy equipment and monitor feed rates.
Production Tracking: Track production rates and maintain accurate records of production data.
Mechanical Knowledge: Utilize a background in mechanics to understand equipment operation and perform basic repairs.
Advancements in Technology: Stay informed about advancements in crushing technology and provide feedback on potential upgrades.
Training Participation: Actively participate in on-the-job training (OJT) to gain a comprehensive understanding of existing equipment and processes.
Teamwork and Communication
Communicate effectively with co‑workers and supervisors about production metrics, equipment status, and any issues that arise.
Assist in training new operators and promote a collaborative working environment.
Participate in team meetings to align on production goals, safety protocols, and performance improvement opportunities.
Education and Minimum Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in heavy machinery operation preferred.
Previous experience operating crushers or heavy equipment in a quarry or similar environment.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices, with certifications in OSHA or MSHA training strongly recommended.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Extended hours during the season (April–October).
Work primarily outdoors in a quarry or open‑pit setting, often exposed to varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform various physical activities, including standing, climbing, and kneeling.
Exposure to loud noise levels, mechanical equipment, and potential hazards associated with quarry operations.
