Base pay: $75.00/hr - $75.00/hr
Additional on‑call rate: $50.00/hr
About Delaware Guidance Services Delaware Guidance Services for Children and Youth, Inc. (DGS) is Delaware’s largest provider of outpatient behavioral health services for children and families. DGS offers counseling, group therapy, parent‑child interaction therapy, and school‑based services, including a 24‑hour Mobile Response and Stabilization Service that deploys crisis clinicians across the state. In 2021, clinicians logged over 54,000 direct care hours. DGS provides care to a racially and ethnically diverse population, with 80% of clients on Medicaid and 90% earning less than $30,000.
Position Highlights
Schedule: Typically evenings and weekends; PRN on‑call duty
Locations: Lewes, Dover, Newark, and other community sites
Summary / Objective Under the supervision of the Crisis Clinical Coordinator, the Crisis Clinician will provide rapid‑response screening, assessment, and counseling intervention for youth and families experiencing urgent psychological and emotional distress, ensuring safety and implementing therapeutic plans.
Essential Functions
Conduct risk assessments and coordinate with DPBHS workers to determine appropriate level of care.
Consult supervisors to maintain safety and develop therapeutic plans lasting up to 30 days.
Provide short‑term crisis intervention, including safety planning, diagnostic evaluation, and trauma‑informed counseling.
Manage case documentation from intake through discharge.
Maintain professional, trauma‑informed interactions with families, stakeholders, and emergency responders.
Plan and administer solution‑focused interventions to build skills and address conflicts.
Communicate with the DPBHS team and stakeholders for a systems‑based approach to crisis stabilization.
Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field.
Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a Human Services field.
Education/Training in suicide risk prevention and intervention.
