Position Summary

This job is hands on, a combination of Engineering and Technician responsibilities. The Test and Commission Engineer will support our facility, providing testing for the equipment and assembly as needed. Responsibilities

Carry out all testing of the S-250i accelerator module and related equipment at the factory in Littleton, Massachusetts. Perform testing activities including calibrating/setting up equipment, running the accelerator and all of its subsystems (RF, superconducting magnet, vacuum, ion source, cryogenics), recording results, and troubleshooting and repairing issues as identified. Participate in the commissioning of the S-250i at the customer site when needed, which includes cabling, startup, preliminary testing, troubleshooting and repair, final testing, and obtaining customer acceptance. While in the factory, the test and commission is part of the production group and from time to time may be called upon to perform assembly work. Responsible for maintaining, submitting, and redlining manufacturing documentation during the build and test process. Specifies and assists in acquisition of tools and equipment. This job requires occasional travel; approximately 5-10%. Second shift work availability is a must. Education, Training, And Experience

An associate’s degree in electronics is preferred but not required. 3-10 years of experience in electromechanical test and repair is essential. Experience with accelerator systems (RF, high power electronics, high vacuum, cryogenics, superconducting magnets) is a strong plus. Ability to work for extended periods with little to no supervision. Proficient with the use of power and hand tools. Proficient in the reading and understanding of technical prints and schematics. Proficient in documentation of assembly processes. Experience with the use of rigging equipment including forklifts, hoists, etc. Experience with controlled documentation and FDA compliance is a plus. Physical And Environmental Considerations

Must be able to work in high magnetic fields, with high voltages, with high radiation, and radioactive materials. May be involved in rigging operations. Must be able to work in confined spaces and spaces which require the use of a harness. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Use of standard office equipment. Seniority level
