This position is located at the Milliken Chemical Plant in Gainesville, FL, and reports to a Chemical Supervisor. A Chemical Operator is a key role in chemical manufacturing, capable of working safely as part of a team, learning chemical processing, and obtaining multiple job certifications to progress to top pay. Entry-level associates will rotate on a 12-hour shift (first-third rotation) and learn basic chemical and material handling skills. Responsibilities

Familiarize yourself with all pertinent SOPs and departmental manuals and demonstrate the ability to perform chemical operator duties. Develop working knowledge of setup, operation, and cleanup of chemical process equipment; demonstrate competency in operating assigned vessels in the Pay and Progression path. Understand required paperwork flow, product flow, and terminology used in each production assignment. Identify and safely demonstrate how to disassemble, clean, and reassemble all process filters used in commercial production processes as directed by supervisors. Manage process paperwork including SAP, Excel, and label-printing systems. Maintain assigned work stations in a neat and orderly fashion with minimal supervision. Maintain proficiency in sampling, weighing, and labeling procedures and ensure containers are properly identified and labeled. Operate heating and cooling systems and know locations of control switches, valves, and regulators (including city water, tower water, glycol cooling, steam boiler, hot oil heating). Read and understand written procedures contained in Chemical Process Documents; complete required procedural batch sheets without error. Work efficiently under minimum supervision to accomplish production goals and support a safe, clean work environment. Demonstrate safe drum handling techniques when moving full 55-gallon drums on/off pallets and safe cylinder handling techniques when transferring cylinders as directed by supervisors. Safely transport and load 25 kg bags of chemicals into processing equipment by hand. Participate in Process Review Committee meetings as the operator process expert. Collaborate effectively with others and follow verbal and written instructions; comply with Milliken Quality Policy. Qualifications

Required

High School Diploma. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to climb multiple steps, lift 50 pounds regularly, pass medical clearance, and wear a full-face respirator. Computer experience, Windows-based software. Preferred

High level of computer skills. Prior experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment. Forklift experience; SAP experience. Skills and strengths

Ability to multi-task. Ability to work as a team and independently. Self-direction and adaptability to changing priorities.
