GM Performance Power Units – Concord, NC. Design Engineer – Performance & Racing. Department: Design. Responsibilities
Complies with Design Standards, Best Practices and Global Infobook Standards Applies manufacturability, Design for Assembly, and integration knowledge to parts and subsystem designs and their usage requirements Active participant in project design reviews and group meetings; documents and maintains material, mass, and other part specifications within the Math file Works closely with engineers and designers to achieve product design requirements Integrates component and subsystem designs into systems Applies analytical results to component design with support of the Responsible Engineer, Design Leader and other Senior Designers Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in area of responsibility Shares lessons learned with Design Leader and Designers plus recommends updates to Best Practices Creates math data (models) or virtual layouts of complex components and subsystems Proactively communicates with Design Manager, Responsible Engineer and Design Leader regarding project status, timing, and technical issues Ensures high quality, on-time math release of components and subsystems Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities Creates accurate component drawings, applying GD&T principles to all machined features; basic understanding of specifications and release terms and system Proficient knowledge of prototype build process Required Qualifications
Minimum 6+ years of experience with successful automotive product design results Bachelor Degree or Associate’s Degree in Product Design / Engineering Technology Minimum 5+ years of experience with successful automotive product design results Preferred Qualifications
Expert level NX design software skills Knowledgeable in sketch-based modeling practices Ability to manipulate large assemblies within the NX structure Strong working knowledge of Promoted or Linked bodies for casting model tooling and machining operations Creates NX drawings, containing all necessary views and drawing requirements Expert in casting design and associated math tooling for creation Experience in machining techniques of castings and billet components Strong knowledge of other manufacturing processes (e.g., molding, stamping, extrusion, machining, etc.) Familiar with the Teamcenter Data Management system for math data release Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; analytical problem-solving skills and ability to bring issues to resolution Basic understanding of Specifications and Release terms and system Why Join Us
