Job Details Job Title: Sheet Metal Mechanic Department: Operations FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: President Salary: Commensurate with experience + Benefits Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL area (various sites)
Responsibilities Install ductwork across galvanized, stainless steel, aluminum, fibrous duct board, spiral or round with S-slip/ drive, flanged or welded per duct shop drawings and/or cut tickets in a safe, neat and orderly manner.
Install fire dampers and smoke dampers per code and manufacturer installation guidelines.
Make field alterations to ductwork (e.g., 3-piece/1-piece offsets, 90° and 45° elbows, transitions) to fit field conditions.
Layout and install mechanical equipment including terminal unit boxes, fan coil units, exhaust fans, split system A/C units, AHUs, and RTUs.
Layout and install roof support systems for mechanical equipment and ductwork per NOA details (rails, stands, curbs, tie-downs).
Install louvers per NOA attachment details.
Layout and install ductwork and equipment hangers using required hardware and tools; operate laser, saws, hammer drills, and powder-actuated guns (where certified).
Install grilles, registers, and diffusers (lay-in, surface mount, linear diffusers, laminar flow diffusers).
Seal ductwork per plans and specifications.
Read and comprehend plans and specifications; inspect, examine, and test duct systems using duct pressure test equipment or other methods.
Accept, unload, and store material and equipment deliveries safely and productively.
Other duties as assigned. Bring optimization to work daily. Maintain safety and confidentiality.
Safety Responsibilities Each employee is responsible for their own safety, the safety of coworkers, and the community.
Check in with building personnel before performing work.
Follow all safety, health, and loss prevention rules and instructions relevant to your duties.
Wear all Personal Protective Equipment required for the job.
Qualifications
For consideration, candidates must have a great attitude and be a team player. Must have hand tools associated with the scope of work.
Must always put SAFETY FIRST.
3+ years of experience.
Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to job sites in the areas we work.
Must own all hand tools needed to perform as a sheet metal mechanic per list provided at hiring.
Must be a team player and take pride in all work.
Must be able to work overtime as required.
