Level II Pay range: $22 - $30/hr In this position the individual will perform thermal measurement and qualifications on rack mount computing products, gather test logs and provide them to engineering team members. This involves attaching thermal sensors to electronic devices, operating data acquisition units, using environmental chambers, and configuring test software in a Linux environment. The ideal candidate has experience with thermal measurement and is passionate about technology and engineering. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Perform temperature measurements by attaching thermocouples to electronic devices. Operate data acquisition equipment such as Keysight loggers. Run tests on products and equipment to ensure proper functioning. Analyze system or product performance. Use hand tools to assemble and disassemble prototypes. Start and stop test tools based in Linux or Windows. Collect data logs from above test tools in Linux or Windows and provide to team members. Program environmental chambers. Observe and report unexpected results or possible areas of problems. Regularly inspect measurement tools and repair or replace as required. Inspect/troubleshoot product design for problems or errors and offer feedback to engineering teams. Job Specifications Education and Work Experience High School Diploma required Associate degree in Engineering Technology or professional or skilled trade certification strongly desired. Experience with thermocouples Experience with Windows Experience with Linux Experience building personal computers Experience with environmental chambers Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Fluency in Linux command line operation. Possesses background knowledge of thermal measurement sciences. Familiarity with test instruments such as data loggers, volt meters, and power supplies. Works well as a team member but also independently. Pays close attention to details. Understanding of the proper use of thermocouples and associated sensor instruments. Communicates clearly and effectively. Demonstrates intellectual curiosity. Exhibits familiarity with proper lab safety procedures. Self-driven. Job Complexity and Supervision This job involves complex tasks of wiring, gluing, using hand and electric tools. Use of computer operating systems such as Windows and Linux. Use of test instrument software and control panels on large equipment. Technicians work in a secure lab area with low levels of direct supervision. Working Conditions An engineering technician spends the majority of his or her working hours in a laboratory setting, designing and testing equipment and products. Time is also spent in an office setting, processing paperwork and writing lab reports. Generally, engineering technicians work a standard 40-hour week, though they may occasionally work overtime to meet deadlines. Physical Demands Exertional levels as outlined in the Standards of U.S. Department of Labor as defined in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) MEDIUM : work involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
