JOB DESCRIPTION: Hercules Machinery Corporation is seeking a skilled and experienced
Field Service Technician
to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our high-performance pile driving and construction equipment directly at job sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydraulic systems, mechanical, and electrical repairs, with a hands‑on ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in the field. This position requires frequent travel, often 75% of the time, to client locations across the region to provide on‑site services and repairs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Field Service & Repairs:
Travel to customer sites to provide timely and efficient troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs of construction pile driving and heavy‑duty machinery.
Systems Expertise:
Apply your expertise in hydraulics and/or electronics to identify, repair, and replace faulty components such as pumps, valves, hoses, cylinders, fuses, screens, and wiring harnesses.
Mechanical and Electrical Repairs:
Diagnose and repair mechanical issues involving pistons, rods, gears, bearings, and other essential machinery parts. Diagnose and repair electrical issues involving fuse panels, CAN diagnostics, broken/damaged wires, power supply, and other essential electrical components. Ensure the proper functioning of components through thorough inspections and adjustments.
Maintenance & Service:
Perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes, lubrication, fluid checks, and system adjustments, to extend the life and functionality of equipment.
On‑Site Testing:
After repairs, test machinery to verify that it meets performance standards, ensuring reliability and safety for the end user.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate service records, documenting all repairs, parts replaced, and maintenance activities. Communicate progress and findings to supervisors and customers.
Collaborative Communication:
Work closely with your direct supervisor to discuss job requirements, repair strategies, and customer expectations. Ensure clear and timely communication regarding progress, issues, and outcomes.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working on job sites. Follow proper procedures for equipment handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
Customer Relations:
Build and maintain positive relationships with customers by providing high‑quality service and technical support, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Mechanical and Electrical Knowledge:
Proven experience in repairing and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems, with a strong focus on construction or heavy‑duty equipment.
Hydraulic Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of hydraulic systems and the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex hydraulic components.
Problem Solving & Diagnostics:
Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues quickly and accurately in a field environment.
Attention to Detail:
Thorough in performing inspections, identifying potential issues, and ensuring equipment operates at peak performance.
Travel Flexibility:
Ability to travel 75% of the time to jobsites, sometimes in remote locations, and work in varying weather conditions.
Physical Strength:
Capability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting heavy parts, bending, and working in tight spaces.
Tools and Equipment:
Ability to provide and use your own tools for field service work is a plus. Familiarity with a broad range of diagnostic and repair tools is essential.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Technical certifications or college‑level education in a relevant field (e.g., Diesel Mechanics, Hydraulics, or Construction Equipment).
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, preferably in the construction or heavy equipment field.
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full‑time position, with expected travel of 75% of the time. Standard work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, but flexibility is required due to travel and customer needs.
