Job Summary EMCOR Facilities Services (EFS) manages over 1 billion square feet of commercial space across the United States. We provide comprehensive facility services ranging from mechanical maintenance to energy‑efficiency upgrades and supplier‑managed interior/exterior maintenance. EFS is hiring an Electrician for our Suffolk, VA site. The Electrician reports daily to the EMCOR Site Supervisor and supports quality workmanship and high work standards to maintain a professional working environment.
Responsibilities
Communicate effectively with the Site Supervisor to determine service needs.
Coordinate and supervise client sub‑contractors while performing service on site.
Perform electrical maintenance and repair, including troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment and facility‑related equipment.
Maintain building lighting, parking lot lighting, emergency lights/exit lights, and 120‑volt outlets.
Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures; replace damaged parts and repair connections.
Monitor and adjust building automation systems.
Assist the team in operating and troubleshooting the electrical systems, emergency generator, and lighting systems.
Perform wide‑variety of corrective/general maintenance work requests and support teammates of other skill sets (HVAC, General Maintenance, and warehouse support when required).
Maintain accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties; manage, receive, complete, and document work orders/PMs assigned through the CMMS system.
Qualifications
Successfully completed an Apprenticeship Program.
21 years old or older.
4 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid US driver’s license.
Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance – Active clearance preferred.
Apprentice Electrical license or Journeyman a plus.
NFPA 70E training.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
