AFO is looking for a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic to work in Fort Sill, OK. The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of Army ground support equipment (GSE) and material handling equipment (MHE) at a contractor‑managed equipment turn‑in site. This role ensures that GSE assets (generators, air compressors, hydraulic jacks, power units, forklifts, and specialized support tools) are serviceable, compliant with U.S. Army technical manuals, and properly prepared for storage, turn‑in, or transfer. The GSE Mechanic supports Army readiness and accountability by ensuring equipment is safe, functional, and documented in accordance with Army standards.

Responsibilities
Equipment Inspection & Maintenance :
Perform inspections and diagnostics on ground support equipment and MHE during turn‑in processing.
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance per Army maintenance standards (DA PAM 750-8, AR 750-1, and applicable TMs).
Service and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, automotive A/C and hydraulic systems.
Verify equipment condition codes and annotate deficiencies for property accountability.
Repair & Servicing :
Repair and maintain items such as generators, heaters, lighting units, power distribution equipment, hydraulic test stands, tow bars, jacks, and lifting devices.
Use Robin Air A/C machine.
Troubleshoot faults using Army‑approved diagnostic tools.
Replace worn or damaged components and return equipment to a serviceable state when authorized.
Tag, segregate, and document unserviceable equipment for proper disposition.
Safety & Compliance :
Adhere to OSHA, Army, and company safety policies during maintenance operations.
Safely handle fuels, lubricants, batteries, and hazardous materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
Enforce safety procedures for lifting, towing, and transporting GSE and MHE.
Support Turn‑In Operations :
Coordinate with Supply Technicians and Material Coordinators to verify serviceability and documentation during equipment turn‑in.
Provide technical advice to Army and contractor staff on GSE condition and maintenance requirements.
Assist in preparing GSE and MHE for shipment, storage, or redistribution.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational/technical certification in mechanical or electrical maintenance preferred.
3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in GSE or MHE maintenance (Army or contractor environment preferred).
Familiarity with Army maintenance standards, TMs, and property accountability requirements.
Experience with preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) for GSE/MHE.
Knowledge of Army logistics systems such as GCSS‑Army.
Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Proficiency in reading TMs, schematics, and maintenance work orders.
Strong attention to detail and record‑keeping skills.
Effective teamwork and communication in a fast‑paced environment.
Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, or other MHE with proper licensing (OF 346 or equivalent).
Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Oklahoma Driver’s License prior to starting date of employment.
Must be U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) to obtain a CAC.
Must receive a favorable background check and drug‑testing results.
Must be able to obtain an Automotive Air Conditioner 609 license.
Working Environment / Physical Activities
Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. Duties may involve outdoor work with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work requires lifting up to 50 lbs, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing and sitting, and operating areas with potential physical exposure.
Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required: head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices.
Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published company work rules.
