The Millwright is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to facilitate daily operations throughout the manufacturing process. Tasks include loading and unloading raw materials, assembling, fabricating, and correctly moving wood pieces through the manufacturing process. Millworkers are cooperative and eager to apply their skills in various areas, regularly changing jobs to achieve success. Responsibilities:

Handcrafted door manufacturing Planning joints, assembling parts, and performing partial assemblies Sandblasting wood surfaces Reinforcing joints in casements Operating woodworking machines such as power saws, mortisers, shapers, and using hand tools to cut, shape, and form parts Finishing surfaces on products Studying plans, specifications, or drawings, or preparing specifications Marking outlines or dimensions on wood Using woodworking machines and hand tools to cut, shape, and form parts Trimming joints and assembling parts/subassemblies using glue, clamps, nails, screws, or fasteners Applying veneer, stain, or varnish to finished products Repairing or remodeling wood accessories and related products Estimating quantity, type, and cost of materials required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to take accurate measurements with tape measure and calipers Safe and efficient use of hand and power tools Basic reading and writing skills Ability to add/subtract fractions and convert to decimals Ability to read, follow, and understand work instructions Diagnosing and carrying out minor wood repairs Physical Requirements:

Lifting 1-30 lbs. frequently, up to 50% of the day; 30-60 lbs. regularly; over 60 lbs. occasionally Pushing/pulling 100 lbs. with help rarely Kneeling, squatting, bending, working with arms outstretched, standing for long periods Working in hot, cold, noisy, or dusty environments Education and Experience:

High school diploma generally required Four-year apprenticeship or equivalent work experience in the trade Red Seal or trade certification considered an asset Safety and Culture:
