Overview
Job Responsibilities:
The Outside Electrician is responsible for:
Installing wireways supporting cables in submarines, and installing cables and electrical components (nuclear and non-nuclear), including power distribution switchboards, telephones, control systems, electronics, and weapon systems.
Installing, tagging out, and testing ship's lighting systems.
Hooking up cables to electrical components following NAVSEA methods and procedures, such as hardwiring and connectorization.
Grooming electrical components for inspections and providing documentation for each job performed. Skills include vulcanization of ship's cables and installation and maintenance of shipboard temporary services.
Learning and applying skills in power and data/signal cable splicing.

Hourly Rates from $27.57 - $38.41

Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or GED or 2+ years of related technical experience
5+ years of relevant experience
Availability for all shifts
Preferred:
Experience in vocational, technical colleges, apprentice programs, military, shipbuilding, or manufacturing sectors
Completion of the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative Training Program
Physical Qualifications:
Climbing, crawling, kneeling, heavy, light, and medium lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, twisting, color vision
Environmental Attributes:
Exposure to acids or alkalis, cold, dry, dusty, fumes, hot, inside, noise, oily, outside, wet conditions
