Materials Manager – NPAworldwide

Job Description The Materials Manager oversees the supply chain selection and development process and is responsible for materials acquisition and inventory management functions. This includes major elements of strategic directives and tactical activities to support the business, supporting organizational goals by directing and coordinating activities to obtain operational efficiency and maximize profits.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee new product supply chain development strategies and support.

Develop, monitor, and maintain the supply chain—including supplier selection, development, agreements, qualification, performance, and continuous improvement.

Develop commodity strategies and identify gaps in current or potential supplier base.

Plan finished goods and purchase raw materials, supplies, and equipment.

Plan and use ERP information to optimize purchases of materials to support the business plan.

Manage inventory and purchases to control/balance cost, availability, and working capital metrics.

Monitor and report critical inventory control metrics and develop control or counter‑measures.

Ensure daily interaction with other departments to meet schedules and goals.

Manage maintenance, repair, and operations parts and equipment buying.

Utilize a broad knowledge of markets, suppliers, industries, and technologies to deliver annual cost savings and increased efficiencies.

Partner with R&D, engineers, and project/product managers to identify and analyze cost‑savings opportunities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

In partnership with HR, perform staff HR responsibilities—including hiring, termination, promotions/pay adjustments, staff development, performance evaluations, resolution of employee concerns, and disciplinary counseling.

Manage, control, and recommend budgets within approved guidelines.

Develop and revise departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines to meet business needs.

Supervise direct reports per company administrative policies and procedures.

Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management or equivalent.

Experience Requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in materials management within a manufacturing environment, including 5 years of leadership experience managing supplier development and performance, inventory control/management, and purchasing functions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Expertise within electronics or a similar consumer products industry.

Experience or demonstrated capability in material planning theory and practices.

Expertise driving sourcing/materials management functions in a fast‑paced global environment.

Knowledge of supply management, production, and inventory control methods and procedures.

Proven leadership skills focused on establishing a healthy culture and effective motivation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management, and sourcing applications.

Expertise with fully integrated scope ERP and/or MRP systems.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work with minimal oversight while adhering to relevant policies and procedures.

Ability to travel frequently and be on‑site with outsourced vendors.
