Ames Middle School is seeking a Special Education Resource Teacher (Strategist I) for the 2024-2025 school year.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Demonstrates the ability to enhance academic performance. Demonstrates competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position. Demonstrates competence in planning and preparing for instruction. Uses strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students. Fulfills all the responsibilities of the IEP: timely and current progress monitoring, uses progress monitoring to guide instruction, etc. Works collaboratively with other educational professionals. Engages in professional growth. Creates a sense of belonging and welcoming environment for all students and staff. Attends work on a consistent and punctual basis. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Valid Iowa teaching license. 5-12 Strategist I: Mild/Moderate Endorsement or willingness to obtain required. Ability to pass a background check required. The successful candidate will exhibit: Ability to bend, lift, sit on the floor, run short distances, and assist physically active students. A basic understanding of the needs of children and the ability to relate to children with different academic and behavioral needs. Professional communication skills. Patience and compassion and maintain a caring and helpful relationship with children. Initiative and the insight to anticipate problem situations and respond accordingly. Ability to create a sense of belonging and welcoming environment for all students and staff. Consistent and punctual attendance.
