Suwanee, GA Starting from $70000.00 per year BoundaryZone, Inc., a Land Surveying, Engineering, and Land Planning Firm, is recruiting a Project Surveyor for their growing Land Surveying Department. The ideal candidate will be a Professional Land Surveyor with a valid Georgia Surveying License. The Project Surveyor will report to the corporate office in Suwanee, GA. This position has the opportunity for growth to other territories and offices that provide surveying services throughout Georgia. This position reports directly to the divisions Survey Manager. Job Description: This position is responsible for managing survey projects to establish the requirements to meet accuracy standards, budgets, schedules, and board compliance. Supervise and assist coworkers in completing all aspects of land surveying regarding field work and office work, including but not limited to establishing horizontal and vertical control, topographic, as-built, boundary surveys, and construction staking. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements, including boundary calculations and legal compliance. This position has full survey authority for personnel actions. Acts as an advisor to the land surveying team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for project management of survey projects. Ensure that project research is complete including plats, deeds, estimates, and all necessary job research before dispatching crews to the job. Verify that Crew Chiefs are aware of job details and any unusual circumstances prior to dispatching to job. Track the field work to completion and assign on the task list for drafting. Evaluate staff performance and provide input to the decision process of advancement and/or maintaining employment. Manage the project to see that it is researched, and the scope of work is relayed to the field crew and CAD drafter. Provide field crews with calculated property corners for replacing lost or obliterated monumentation. Answer client calls with concerns or questions regarding the survey and anticipated delivery of the survey. Take sales calls and emails, quote projects, process work orders, and take payments as required. Assign and direct project effort (survey crews and technicians), project communications within the company and to outside stakeholders, monitor and process financial information, and maintain client relationships and attend training as necessary. Keeping up to date with boundary law and construction procedures. Site visits / fieldwork as needed. Be vigilant for ways to improve methods or procedures and make suggestions to other staff. Skill Requirements: The position requires a complete understanding of land surveying and the various types of surveying that can be requested or required to help the client obtain the survey that will allow them to achieve their goal. Good communication skills are essential. Familiar with operation of all survey instruments, including conventional and robotic total station, GPS, and drones. Provide effective day-to-day supervision of project survey staff. Reads and interprets titles, deeds, plats, plans, and specifications. Sets priorities and meets deadlines. Identifies and implements effective courses of action in order to complete work assignments. Maintains files of plats, documents, and other records. Ability to solve problems, perform surveying calculations, and resolve property boundaries. Must be skilled in managing multiple priorities and prioritizing work assignments. Must be able to work independently and make survey-related decisions. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Must be able to solve problems related to surveying and mapping projects; certify legal descriptions, plats, and survey reports; supervise technicians and field crews on survey and mapping projects as well as attend required meetings. Proficiency in MS Office. Drafting on Civil 3D, Carlson, or other CAD software. Required Experience: Current Georgia Professional Land Surveying License. Minimum of 5 years project management experience. Minimum of 5 years land surveying experience. Additional Land Surveying / Land Planning credentials are a plus.
