About Us EMCOR Government Services has an opportunity for a Utility Mechanic in Herndon, VA. The Utility Mechanic will supervise, troubleshoot and maintain site Generators, Pumps, Electric Motors and all combustion powered machines. This position is covered by the CBA for Local 99. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Job Summary Utility Mechanic duties include supervising and maintaining essential equipment and infrastructure, providing corrective solutions, monitoring subcontractors, and performing preventive maintenance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assist with the maintenance of site equipment and building structure.

Assist with the troubleshooting of all equipment on site to include, but not limited to, Generators, Pumps, Motors, Polaris Vehicles, Electric Carts, etc.

Perform preventive maintenance of all equipment on site, including Generators, Pumps, Motors, Polaris Vehicles, Electric Carts, etc.

Institute corrective action and/or inform supervisor on any deficiencies found during preventive maintenance and daily inspections.

Attend meetings with Client and USG and be prepared to provide corrective solutions to site issues.

Monitor subcontractors in their tasks and provide reports when needed.

Perform any other tasks as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications

Must possess and maintain an EGSA Certification, General Generator Maintenance and Repair Certification, or 5‑7 year experience in the Generator/Engine Repair and Maintenance Field.

Recommended five (5) or more years experience in maintenance and repairs on Commercial‑Industrial building equipment, including generators, pumps, motors, controllers, heat exchangers, VFDs.

Demonstrate ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics and specifications.

Demonstrate practical knowledge of power plant operations and basic knowledge of a generator system.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Physical Demands

Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 75 lbs).

Prolonged, extensive standing/walking.

Push/pull or move/lift equipment, supplies and parts.

Manual dexterity and mobility.

Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching.
