Business Development Specialist – Litigation Practice
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a
creative, detail-oriented, and collaborative Business Development Specialist
to join its Marketing and Business Development team supporting the firm’s Litigation practice. This group advises innovative companies across technology, life sciences, and other sectors on complex commercial disputes, securities and intellectual property litigation, employment matters, and white-collar defense. In this role, you will help drive the practice’s business development efforts by shaping its market presence, supporting pitches and proposals, developing engaging content, and coordinating profile-raising initiatives. You will collaborate closely with attorneys and a high-performing business development team that values creativity, initiative, and follow-through. Location:
Flexible across major U.S. markets, with a hybrid schedule. Responsibilities
Pitch and Proposal Support Draft, format, and coordinate client pitches, proposals, and panel submissions
Develop and maintain marketing content including representative matters, experience summaries, and practice descriptions
Ensure messaging aligns with client needs and highlights the firm’s strengths
Content Development and Thought Leadership Manage the lifecycle of client alerts, newsletters, and other content — from ideation to publication
Support webinars, CLE programs, panels, and other client-facing events
Collaborate with PR and communications teams on promotion and coverage
Rankings, Directories, and Awards Lead submission processes for rankings such as Chambers, Legal 500, and Benchmark Litigation
Coordinate attorney interviews and maintain timelines
Track results and contribute to rankings strategy
Experience Management and Practice Support Track and update representative experience for pitches and marketing materials
Maintain records of client wins, speaking engagements, and other achievements
Assist with onboarding lateral partners and integrating their clients into firm marketing efforts
Strategic Initiatives and Growth Support implementation of the practice’s business development strategy
Identify cross-practice opportunities and assist with client development briefings, target lists, and competitive research
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in marketing or business development in a law firm or professional services environment
Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Proactive, collaborative mindset and high attention to detail
Familiarity with CRM and marketing platforms (e.g., InterAction, Vuture, PitchBook) preferred
Interest in the technology, life sciences, or litigation sectors a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, English, law, or a related field
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive base salary estimated between $85,000 and $110,000, plus discretionary bonus potential
