Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Inspector 1 Come be part of the Pit Technologies Division at the Plutonium Center of Excellence located in Northern New Mexico at Los Alamos National Laboratory. We provide plutonium pit related products and services of superior quality and value to protect our nation and promote world stability. Pits are a key component of nuclear weapons.

What You Will Do

Perform basic set‑ups, alignments, maintenance, operations, and/or calibration of conventional tools and equipment.

Evaluate the validity and acceptability of inspection results and monitor operations for adherence to project plans, specifications, and procedures.

Inspect items against acceptance criteria using a range of inspection techniques from open set‑up to CMMs and vision systems.

What You Need

Technical Knowledge : Basic knowledge and experience in metrology and inspection operations; ability to interpret and apply GD&T principles to engineering blueprints, sketches, and specifications.

Tools and Equipment : Experience setting up, aligning, maintaining, and calibrating conventional inspection tools and equipment.

Education / Experience : High School diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of related experience. DOE Order 426.2 requires a High School Diploma.

Desired Qualifications : Experience researching, specifying, and selecting measurement and test equipment.

Software Knowledge : Programming experience with CMMs, optical or vision systems using metrology software such as Calypso, Quindos, PC‑DMIS, or related packages.

Operation and Safety Experience : Experience working under DOE Order 440.1B, High Explosives Safety Manual, or DOE O 422.1, Conduct of Operations in a nuclear facility.

Qualifications : Active DOE Q Clearance.

Work Location : Onsite at Los Alamos, NM.

Position Commitment : One‑year continuous service for current employees.

Work Schedule This position may require 24/7 coverage, including shift and weekend work. Employees may be eligible for shift differential pay, at the discretion of management.
