Job Title: AI Data Science Strategist (Contract)
Employment Type: Contract
Location: Remote (Madison, Wisconsin)
Summary This contract role will be responsible for advancing innovation through applied AI, generative modeling, and machine learning within a consumer-focused landscape. The strategist will help transform diverse data sets into actionable insights that guide decision-making across product development, marketing, and supply chain operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to integrate LLMs, multi-modal analytics, and AI infrastructure into enterprise workflows.
What You’ll Do
Design and implement ML algorithms and generative AI models (LLMs, NLP, multi-modal AI) tailored to consumer behavior and business operations
Architect scalable AI solutions to support product innovation, demand forecasting, and marketing effectiveness
Leverage structured and unstructured data sources (POS, social media, CRM, surveys) to extract meaningful market and consumer insights
Build predictive models to support decisions across the product lifecycle and supply chain planning
Rapidly prototype AI solutions and transition high-performing models into production environments
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, R&D, and commercial teams to embed AI into platforms and strategies
Monitor AI model performance and business KPIs, applying statistical rigor to measure success and impact
Facilitate stakeholder alignment and prioritize initiatives based on enterprise value and feasibility
Track and apply emerging AI trends and methodologies relevant to CPG use cases
Contribute to the development of AI governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) frameworks
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
3–5 years of experience developing and deploying AI/ML models, ideally within CPG or retail environments
Proficiency in Python and familiarity with libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, and Transformers
Solid knowledge of LLMs, generative AI tools, and modern deployment practices
Understanding of MLOps, ModelOps, and scalable infrastructure
Experience working with cloud platforms, containerization, and big data ecosystems
Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Familiarity with visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
Exposure to customer segmentation, personalization, and recommendation systems
Understanding of enterprise data platforms and AI governance practices
Experience with demand forecasting, pricing optimization, or marketing mix modeling is a plus
