Drive a mobile health van to locations according to the established schedule. Conduct initial intake/assessment at scheduled location stops. Interview patients to obtain information for registration and billing; review personal, financial and insurance details; explain available coverage plans and calculate treatment costs under the selected plan. Register patients for appropriate health services. Provide assistance and supporting services to patients and clients. Maintain records of all services provided on the mobile health van. Input patient admitting, registration and billing information into the system; prepare reports related to patient census and financial status. Verify insurance program eligibility for emergency and hospital admissions. Classify data on documents and assign appropriate codes. Respond to patient inquiries regarding County health care services, policies and procedures; advise on services, billing procedures and regulations. Operate standard office equipment and computer systems. Perform routine safety checks; identify and arrange for vehicle maintenance as needed. Secure the mobile van in the established parking area at the end of the day. Perform related duties as assigned. Ideal candidate
A valid class B California driver’s license or equivalent; prior experience operating and maintaining a large vehicle preferred. Ability to operate a 42-foot vehicle and maintain a good driving record. Current CPR (Basic Life Support). Minimum of one year of office support experience with direct patient contact in a community outreach or clinical setting. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance (routine and preventative). Strong communication and customer service skills; ability to work effectively in a close-knit team. Positive, proactive attitude and strong organizational skills. Experience working in a team environment. Ability to speak, read and write fluently in Spanish is preferred. Qualifications
Knowledge of traffic laws and safe operation of County-owned motor vehicles; familiarity with medical patient services, insurance and billing processes; medical terminology related to office support work. Office practices and procedures, including filing, reception and use of standard office equipment; basic business data processing principles and word processing. Business arithmetic and basic record-keeping principles. Skill/Ability
Operate the mobile clinic vehicle safely and professionally. Perform accurate and detailed patient services clerical work. Prioritize tasks and coordinate multiple activities. Use standard office equipment and computer systems; apply initiative and judgment within guidelines. Work effectively with difficult patients and in a team environment. Establish and maintain accurate files and records; perform accurate arithmetic calculations. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical qualification is: One year of office support experience involving direct patient contact in a community outreach or clinical setting. Licensure/Certification
Position requires possession of a class C California driver license or equivalent. Positions designated to operate mobile van clinics or outreach vehicles require a class B California driver license or equivalent. Application/Examination
