PURPOSE: The successful Renewable Fuels Carbon Compliance Specialist will support the daily activities for the various carbon programs and compliance activities associated with Calumet's subsidiary Montana Renewables (MRL). KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Collect, review, and distribute data related to MRL's production of renewable fuels for complying with regulated fuel markets including the federal Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and various Low Carbon Fuel Systems (LCFS) programs Daily EPA Moderated Transaction System (EMTS) Renewable Identification Number (RIN) management Generate/separate/sell RINs Assist in answering questions from clients Work with internal teams on corrections Coordination of scope emission credits in various fuel registries Monthly collection of site operating data Monthly calculation of carbon intensity and mass balance models Monthly creation of chain of custody traceability documentation Quarterly RFS reports creation Quarterly Quality Assurance Program (QAP) desk audit data gathering Annual reports creation and audit data gathering Annual modeling of carbon intensity scores and mass balances for agency reporting Contribute to carbon compliance strategies and certification efforts Perform other duties, as necessary REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES: Bachelor's Degree in a related field required Minimum 2 years' work experience post bachelor's degree Ability to travel up to 10% Strong proficiency in use of MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES: Master's Degree preferred but not required Minimum 2 years' overall experience in managing and/or supporting low carbon compliance programs Working knowledge and understanding of California LCFS and RFS program compliance and related credit markets, inclusive of regulatory policies and practices Familiarity with various carbon compliance reporting tools such as EPA's EMTS and CARB's LRT COMPETENCIES: Adaptability - Flexible and able to effectively deal with changing priorities and needs Analytical / Critical Thinker - Numerate with high degree of analytical and critical thinking capability Collaboration / Teamwork - Ability to positively engage and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve broader team objectives Communication / Presentation - Ability to give presentations and communicate effectively with varied stakeholders, both orally and in writing Competitive Drive - Self-starter, ambitious, highly motivated, goal-driven, and team-oriented Detail Orientation - Demonstrates quality orientation and precision in their work products Drive for Results - Demonstrated track record of delivering high quality and high impact results that support business priorities Energy - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency and positive energy Influencing - Ability to engage with and shape the decisions and perceptions of others Project Management - Ability to effective plan and organize projects to effectively utilize resources and accomplish business objectives Demonstration of Calumet Values - Safety, Environment & Social Responsibility, Teamwork, Ownership, Passion for Customers, and Excellence Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
