Capacity Planner at Westlake Westlake Pipe & Fittings, a Westlake division (NYSE:WLK), is one of the largest polyvinyl chloride pipe and fittings manufacturer in North America. With 23 manufacturing and distribution locations, the company supplies gasketed, solvent weld and restrained joint pipes and a wide range of fittings for a diverse list of markets including municipal water and sewer, plumbing, water well, pool and spa, and agricultural and turf irrigation.

Summary Oversees the supply planning activities for the Sales Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) process. Responsible for managing, developing and maintaining the supply plan, as well as the capacity requirements planning to satisfy the demand plan and strategic plans of the organization. Reports to the SIOP Manager and works cross‑functionally to support the overall operations planning and control process of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the development, consensus and presentation of the supply plan through the monthly SIOP process

Leads the supply planning meeting as part of the monthly SIOP process

Responsible for communicating the supply plan to all functional areas: Operations, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Procurement and Sourcing teams

Develops and monitors Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) as part of the supply plan execution

Defines and monitors MPS Plan for execution in the ERP system

Supports the design, implementation and enhancement of the company’s planning system solution as part of the supply chain digital strategy

Becomes a subject matter expert Supply Planner in the company’s supply chain planning system

Designs and implements Resource Requirements Planning (RRP) & Rough‑Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) tools and processes to support the business plan

Identifies and proposes opportunities for capacity improvements, network capacity balancing, asset utilization, and capital expenditures based on capacity modeling and scenario planning

Develops and maintains analytical tools to improve the quality of the capacity solution designs and/or increase the productivity of the team

Develops and implements KPIs to measure performance of the supply plan to the business plan, demand plan, capacity plan, OEE, plant utilization, among others

Supports the process to evaluate and determine ideal manufacturing and capacity utilization through a Total Landed Cost (TLC) methodology, while supporting customer service requirements

Utilizes change management methodologies to drive organizational change

Education, Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related field

3+ years of supply chain experience

Demonstrated analytical skills with ability to develop concepts in an actionable strategy and plan

Proficient computer skills in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Power BI

Proficient with MRP experience required

ASCM/APICS certification is preferred

Experience with ERP Systems (SAP/JDE/Microsoft Dynamics AX), with SAP S/4HANA preferred

Experience with Kinaxis Rapid Response planning system is preferred (or other software such as Arkieva, John Galt, Logility)

Able to multi‑task and display a high level of company/team spirit in a fast‑paced environment

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

Be able to travel to sites as needed (up to 25% travel)

Physical Demands The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some work may be required in the operating units which may require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
