Senior Project Engineer – Roadway Design
Location Nashville, Murfreesboro, or Chattanooga, Tennessee (Permanent position)
Overview A well‑established engineering firm is seeking a qualified Senior Project Engineer – Roadway Design. The role focuses on designing roadway corridors, interchanges, widening projects, intersection and safety improvements, and multimodal transportation projects. Experience with state DOT and municipal clients is preferred. Task management experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
Design roadway corridors, interchanges, and widening projects.
Execute intersection and safety improvements.
Develop multimodal transportation projects.
Collaborate with state DOT and municipal clients.
Manage project tasks effectively.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Tennessee or ability to obtain within 6 months.
6‑15 years of progressive experience in transportation/roadway design.
Familiarity with DOT processes, plan development, specifications, and cost estimating.
Proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
Knowledge of relevant design standards and guidelines (e.g., MUTCD, ADA).
Strong communication and analytical skills.
Valid driver’s license.
Work Environment The work environment includes offices located in Nashville, Murfreesboro, or Chattanooga, Tennessee. The role involves using technologies such as MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer, adherence to design standards, and maintaining effective communication with clients and team members.
Job Type & Location Permanent position based out of Nashville, Tennessee.
Pay and Benefits Pay range: $110,000.00 – $145,000.00 per year. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance and a matching 401(k) plan.
