What You’ll Do
Work in various roles within operations team to learn equipment, processes and procedures from start to finish. Lead or contribute to improvement projects from design through installation and start-up. Develop Mechanical engineering design and modification of industrial process equipment, fluid power systems, lubrication systems, and circulating water systems. Provide engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and other required technical documentation. Provide engineering technical support as required to enable the operation to produce a quality product within budget that meets or exceeds customer expectations and supports the business strategies and goals of the mill division, CMCA and CMC. Perform constructability reviews and improvement analysis. Review drawings and perform field inspections. Provide equipment specifications and bid reviews. Serve as Project Manager of multi-discipline projects. Estimate and schedule for multidisciplinary projects. Oversee project construction activities and coordinate project implementation with plant operating departments. Implement mechanical design and coordination work as required. Be willing to learn and tackle new challenges. Be organized and detail-oriented with a "get it right the first time" mindset. Demonstrate dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs. Work well with team members or independently; give and receive feedback constructively. Make timely and sound decisions; use resources wisely. Maintain a positive, can-do attitude and composure in challenging situations. Ability to stand and sit for duration of shift, for a minimum of 8 hours.
What You’ll Need
Proficient in MS Office programs – Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint required. SAP experience a plus. Strong communication skills required. Must read, speak and understand English in verbal and written communication. Willing to learn about the steel industry and steel-making process; enjoys tackling new challenges. Minimum of 5 years of industrial design and field construction experience. Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints and diagrams. Professional Engineer license considered a plus. Proficient with Microsoft Project. Must be able to learn quickly, multitask and utilize time wisely. Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced multi-discipline environment, with strong work ethic, attention to detail, organizational and listening skills. Strong technical writing background to document operations and maintenance, explaining new or modified equipment. Experience with field work and understanding the customer’s needs. History of meeting established target dates for projects. Ability to work within project scope and budget.
Your Education
4-Year ABET Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline required.
