Fleet Services By Cox Automotive is hiring a
Mobile Diesel Technician Level II . Fleet Services is a leading provider of on-site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide, supporting light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. We operate 50+ nationwide service centers offering accident repair, painting, refurbishment, and heavy mechanical repair, with a 24/7 in-house call-center for scheduled and unscheduled services. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is one of the largest fleet maintenance companies in the country. We are seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II who will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, and diagnostic work. The Technician II can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under supervision, continuing to learn advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. A successful Technician II complies with all company policies and achieves high performance metrics. DUTIES
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment, including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections. Communicate with clients to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations. Use hand tools and diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks. Document work according to company standards and upload RO findings, parts used, and observations using an iOS device and TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion. Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity and operate within or close to Standard Repair Times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary. Communicate with management and support team to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Maintain the company-issued service truck, conduct safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections. REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience. Alternative combinations such as higher education in a related discipline or 5 years of related experience may be considered. Possess and provide a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months. Must be able to pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment; a current DOT medical card may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical if valid for more than 4 months. Minimum age of 21 years due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations; valid driver’s license and ability to maintain Driver Qualification File.
