Wind Turbine Blade Composite Repair Technician level 3
independent contractor who can be available on weekends and has the ability to travel for projects .

No Composite Certification. Location The United States - Training is in Houston, TX The Position: The
Wind Turbine Blade Composite Repair Technician level 3
will inspect,
perform,
and
oversee
necessary
maintenance
on
wind
turbines
as
well
as
composite
repairs
using
materials
such
as
fiberglass.
They will also
collaborate
with
leadership
and
engineering
on
process
updates
and
improvements.
This role
will work
closely
with
clients
to
ensure
they
receive
proper
documentation
and
communicate
with
them
on
project
updates.
This
will all be conducted
with
a
strong
attention
to
safety,
in
compliance
with all
industry,
state,
and federal
regulations
for
each specific
project. Responsibilities: Perform composite repairs and inspections in the field at varying heights up to 300 feet. Perform coating and structural repairs of internal and external composite structures, such as wind turbine blades and nacelles. Complete repairs independently of 5+ layers. Serve as a liaison with customers and the corporate office regarding all aspects of field operations. Handle scheduling and planning of daily field operations activities. Perform LEP applications. Test, troubleshoot, and repair LPS from blade receptors to hub. Safely rig, set up, and operate the blade access platform. Perform inspections of internal and external blade damage, document findings, and assemble all associated paperwork as required to be posted for further action by Engineering. Perform composite repairs CAT 1-5 on internal and external blade surfaces, leading and trailing edge repair while following the guidelines provided. Perform grinding/scarfing/chamfer of fiberglass layers and fiberglass preparation; knowledge of glass types and pros/cons i.e. UD, Biax, Triax. Perform foam or balsa core repairs. Perform vacuum consolidation and post-cure process. Perform rigging, de-rigging operations, and inspections of equipment, platforms, & boom trucks or lifts. Inspect and document damage and all repair steps with photographs, and assemble documentation as required. Evaluate, inspect, diagnose, and document internal and external composite damage. Complete and maintain required company and client documentation and records, using computer-based service reporting tools, photos, and procedures. Responsible for weekly inspections of PPE. Epoxy and Polyester resin wet layup. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum requirements: High School Diploma or GED, required. 3+ years
of
experience
in the
wind industry required. Experience
in composite Ability
to
read
complex
technical
drawings
and understand processes. Wind Technician Certificate Required (Tower Rescue, CPR, First Aid, AED, OSHA 10, Competent Climber, confined space, working in heights, NFPA 70). Certified IRATA preferred. Certified Composite Technician certificate preferred. Desired Skills and Competencies: Quality knowledge of specifications such as temperature and humidity restrictions; full understanding of the parameters of the repairs being performed and the different processes needed. Ability to grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools and turbine parts. Comfort working in confined spaces and at heights over 100 meters and ability to use equipment with a maximum weight capacity of 270 lb. Have an efficient field of vision including visual depth perception and ability to distinguish colors. Able to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions. Interested?
