Aegis Electrical Design Engineer Aegis is partnered with a rapidly growing electrical manufacturing company seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join its engineering team at an expanding facility in the North Houston area. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys technical design work, hands‑on problem solving, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
About the Role As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing and supporting custom low‑ and medium‑voltage power distribution systems including switchgear, control panels, and electrical enclosures. You’ll work closely with production and purchasing teams to bring projects from concept through manufacturing, while ensuring designs meet industry standards and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Develop electrical approval drawings such as single‑line, three‑line, and control schematics.
Prepare and release manufacturing drawings including wiring and interconnection diagrams.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers to create integrated designs and solve production challenges.
Specify components and verify proper breaker selection, cable sizing, and load requirements.
Support shop floor troubleshooting and provide technical assistance during builds.
Maintain documentation accuracy, BOMs, and revision control within the design system.
Participate in R&D and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design efficiency and quality.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Associate degree with 5+ years of experience also considered).
3+ years of experience in electrical design for switchgear, power distribution, or control panel systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D (AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN experience a plus).
Strong understanding of NEC, UL, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
Ability to interpret and create wiring diagrams, schematics, and BOMs.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
