Overview

We are currently offering a $1,500 sign-on bonus for Heavy Equipment Shop Technician new hires, payable after 90-days of employment. Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C., is hiring a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician in Richmond, Virginia. The Heavy Equipment Shop Technician position is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing complex repairs to both Caterpillar and allied equipment. Seeking candidates with previous experience with heavy construction equipment and work tool repair. Must have experience performing complex mechanical, electrical, and computer repairs. Two years\' experience as a Mechanic Technician B, preferred. High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform complex mechanical, electrical, and computer repairs on Caterpillar and allied equipment.

Operate heavy machinery as needed.

Lead and mentor other technicians; work with limited supervision.

Maintain a positive customer experience and communicate effectively with supervisors and customers.

Work flexible shifts (days, nights, weekends) to meet customer needs.

Utilize computer and service software; proficient in Microsoft Office.

Demonstrate strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; meet deadlines.

Qualifications

Self-starter, able to work with limited supervision.

Must be willing to work shifts as needed.

Experience with heavy construction equipment and work tool repair; two years\' experience as a Mechanic Technician B preferred.

High school diploma or GED required.

Strong mechanical aptitude; expert-level troubleshooting skills; ability to diagnose and repair equipment.

Physical ability to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 70 pounds; repeated reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing.

Proficient in computer use, Microsoft Office, and service software; strong written and verbal communication.
