The G50/G51 Medical Intensive Care Units (MICU) treat high‑acuity medical conditions requiring critical care and specialize in various procedures, including bronchoscopies, endoscopies, emergent intubations and central line placements. As an RN Resident, you will work with fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

Work schedule:

day/evening/night/weekend shifts, 7:00 am–7:30 pm or 7:00 pm–7:30 am.

Responsibilities

Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.

Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.

Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care based on acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability.

Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.

Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.

Document care in patients’ medical records.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program).

Current state licensure or pending licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross, presented upon hire.

New‑grad or less than one year RN work experience, or an experienced RN moving from a non‑inpatient to an acute direct‑care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year of current acute direct‑patient care experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Physical Requirements

Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients; manual and finger dexterity; eye‑hand coordination.

Standing and walking for extended periods.

Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.

Ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Medium work exertion: lifting 20–50 pounds occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, and 0–10 pounds constantly.

Physical demands exceed those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $33.50 Maximum hourly: $53.60 The pay range displayed represents the anticipated range for new hires. Actual compensation will be determined after considering work history, experience, skill set and education. The range does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.) and does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
