In a School Health Clinic or health suite, a School Health Aide provides a variety of clinic and office support tasks for Baltimore City Public Schools. This position does not require supervisory duties. Incumbents receive moderate supervision and work a conventional week.

Salary Range:

$34,477.00 – $37,133.00 Annually.

Starting Pay:

$34,477.00 Annually.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Two (2) years experience as Certified Nursing Assistant OR equivalent education and experience.

Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates

Maintain current CNAs certification.

Obtain and maintain Medication Technician certification within 6 months of hire.

Receive hepatitis‑B series immunization unless immune.

Successfully complete a first‑aid course and a CPR course for adults, children, and infants.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Reading comprehension sufficient to understand medical manuals.

Provide first aid.

Establish constructive relationships with parents and students.

Maintain confidentiality of student records.

Maintain student health records in clear, accurate format and file alphabetically and numerically.

Work effectively with medical staff, school administrators and teachers.

Assist a nurse or nurse practitioner during patient care.

Perform simple medical tests and procedures.

Background Check Eligible candidates in positions of trust will complete a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint authorization.

Probation All selected candidates must complete a mandatory six‑month probation.

Eligibility Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for at least six months, subject to final decision of the Director of Human Resources.

Selection Process All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will be placed on the eligible list. Training and experience will be evaluated. Complete and accurate information must be provided on the application.

Examination Process Applicants will be evaluated on education, training, and experience relevant to the role. Supplemental questions may be required.
