R&D Laser Design and Modeling Engineer
About the Company A leading semiconductor company is seeking a highly motivated
Laser Design and Modeling Engineer
to join their dynamic R&D team. This role focuses on designing, modeling, and simulating InP and GaAs-based high-speed and high-power semiconductor lasers to support next‑generation optoelectronic product development.
Key Responsibilities
Develop high-speed and high-power laser models and simulations using in‑house tools, commercial software, and custom scripts.
Perform optical waveguide, DC, RF, and thermal simulations.
Collaborate closely with process and fabrication engineers on process flow and photomask design.
Partner with internal Growth, Processing, Packaging, Characterization, and Reliability teams to verify and validate designs.
Analyze test data to refine device designs and modeling accuracy.
Contribute to innovative laser design concepts and optimization projects.
Prepare detailed reports and present progress updates to the engineering team.
Qualifications
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related discipline (or Master’s with 5+ years of relevant laser design experience).
At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in semiconductor laser design preferred.
Strong understanding of semiconductor laser, photodetector, and optoelectronic device theory.
Skilled in Matlab or similar programming tools.
Experience with one or more of the following is a plus: high-speed lasers, EML, VCSEL, or high-power lasers.
Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes beneficial.
Detail-oriented, self‑motivated, and able to think analytically and creatively.
